Emmy-nominated writer/director Mark L Mann wrote/directed GENERATION UM... starring Keanu Reeves, Bojana Novakovic and Adelaide Clemens. An existential day-in-the-life portrait of three friends trying to find light in the darker aspects of their New York City "family of circumstance," the feature-length narrative had its US theatrical premiere in 2013, enjoyed a week as the 20th most-rented dvd in America and continues to premiere Worldwide, most recently in Russia, Brazil, Australia, England, Japan and throughout Latin and South America.
Mann previously directed FINISHING HEAVEN, a feature-length documentary acquired by HBO. FINISHING HEAVEN was nominated for a 2010 Emmy in the “Outstanding Arts & Culture Programming” category. The darkly comic, heart-breaking story of a 59-year-old man's continuing struggle to finish a film he began 40 years ago as an undergrad at NYU, premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival, went on to be released theatrically in New York City and Los Angeles, and had its broadcast premiere on HBO.
Mann has edited several feature-length narrative films- GENERATION UM...(which he also directed, starring Keanu Reeves); HEAVEN WANTS OUT, a colorful cinematic reverie about a marginal Manhattan cabaret singer trying to make it anyway she can, starring a cast of Andy Warhol Superstars, shot in 1970 NYC); and a sweet NYC rom-com indie, MISSED CONNECTIONS, about the misadventures of a girl and guy trying to find love in the city, which premiered at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival and enjoyed several months in the top 25 most viewed films on iTunes. Additionally, Mann also edited many short form doc-style pieces for BANK OF AMERICA as part of their 18 city Small Business Partnership Campaign, as well as a piece for SIMON & SCHUSTER promoting AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE's Misty Copeland during the rollout of her biography "Life in Motion."
Currently, Mann is co-directing/producing a documentary feature, developing his next feature length narrative and working on various commercial projects.
