clip from film:
Once a hot spot, the Bowery Follies Cabaret is now just another broken-down New York City nightclub populated with the last vestiges of misfits, vaudeville entertainers and a broken-down headliner known as Heaven. She, like the club, has been there much too long. In a drunken reverie of colorful memories, the singer wanders through the lives of the men who've watched her perform night after night. She's looking for love- or maybe just hoping for a ticket out and trying to make sense of how she got there in the first place.
HEAVEN WANTS OUT, shot in 1970 in NYC, is remarkably still considered a "work-in-progress." The feature film has screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and in the Midnight Movies Category of the Rio de Janerio International Film Festival.
